ABC of Hepatitis

Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver and may be caused by a viral infection. The most common types of viral hepatitis are Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.

HEPATITIS A:

This is caused by Hepatitis A virus and is transmitted by contaminated food and water. Hepatitis A is an acute infection and usually self-limiting.

This is caused by Hepatitis B virus and is transmitted by contact with infected body fluids, blood and semen. If left untreated, Hepatitis B infection can cause severe liver damage( Cirrhosis) and also increase the risk of liver cancer.

HEPATITIS C:

This is caused by Hepatitis C virus and is also transmitted by contact with infected body fluids, blood and semen.

Symptoms

In many patients there are no symptoms and hepatitis can go undiagnosed. In some it can cause the following;

Yellowing of skin and eyes
Fever
Fatigue
Loss of appetite
Nausea and vomiting
Abdominal pain

Diagnosis

Hepatitis is diagnosed by laboratory tests like complete blood count, liver function test and blood markers for Hepatitis A, B and C

I have hepetatis b since 12 year’s , no medication os recommend to me and they say its chronic …. I am 37 yrs and wanted to know if there is any injection or mediation that I can start to take ….
